For the Colorado Energy Office (CEO), GDS Associates, Inc. (GDS) completed a modeling analysis of the market potential for beneficial electrification in Colorado. Beneficial electrification is an emerging trend across the United States. With the electricity sector making major movements in many states to reduce reliance on coal and other fossil fuels, electricity is being looked to as a solution for reducing the consumption of other fossil fuels -- and their associated greenhouse gas emissions. Replacing equipment and appliances that burn natural gas, propane, fuel oil, gasoline, or diesel fuels, with energy-efficient electric technologies will reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the near term. As the grid continues to decarbonize, electrification will produce even greater reductions in greenhouse gas emissions over the long term., prepared for Colorado Energy Office ; prepared by GDS Associates, Inc., report authors Rich Hasselman [and 4 others]., "July 2020.", Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed June 2022)
