Bonnie was not a significant event other than from the standpoint of learning how little we know about hurricanes and how poorly we are able to predict the impacts of a given storm on a given coastal area., "January 15, 1999."--P. The coastal impacts from Opal were generally the result of wave action and flooding rather than wind. Much can be learned on how to mitigate future damage from a survey of the damage patterns using a geological perspective., Includes bibliographical references., Description based on online resource; title from PDF caption; (viewed May 2014)
The Cache la Poudre (CLP) watershed was impacted by the High Park wildfire that burned approximately 87,284 acres from June 9 to July 1, 2012. The CLP River and its heavily forested watershed serve as the source water for three major water districts in northern Colorado. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the impact that the High Park wildfire had on the water quality in the CLP watershed, specifically evaluating the potential changes in DBP formation (following uniform formation conditions), treatability (using alum coagulation) and using fluorescence spectroscopy (e.g. fluorescence index) as an indicator of DOM character and reactivity., prepared by: Amanda K. Disaster recovery is often defined as the reestablishing of patterns of everyday life for disaster-affected households, and potentially improving their resiliency to future disaster events. Yet our knowledge of household-level recovery decision-making and its implications for disaster management is sorely limited This deficit is reflected in the continued failure of disaster policy and planning to provide equitable and timely aid to affected households and prevent negative externalities such as forced relocation. A better understanding of the complexity and dynamism of household recovery decision-making can help address these failures, a need that is particularly relevant given the recent rise in the number and frequency of catastrophic events worldwide., report submitted to the Quick Response Grant program of the of the Natural Hazards Center, Boulder CO by Divya Chandrasekhar and Donovan Finn., "September 2013.", Includes bibliographical references: pages 20-22., Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed March 2017)

Based on the interviews conducted, it is felt that considerable effort needs to be accomplished in the theoretical area of terrorist's attacks to better explain the human dimensions. The long-term objective of this research is to better understand the risk communication model dynamics that occur in such an event., "April 16, 2002." --P.
