This animation shows simulated hourly surface ozone concentrations during the 2014 FRAPPÉ campaign. The simulations have been performed with the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF) Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model. The simulations have been conducted with a 4 km x 4 km grid horizontal resolution and show the frequent occurrence of high ozone pollution in the Colorado Front Range and the transport of this pollution into the nearby mountains during upslope events.
This manual provides detailed methodology for the three most common sampling approaches used by the Agricultural Chemicals & Groundwater Protection Program for its monitoring responsibilities: monitoring well sampling with either a peristaltic pump or pneumatic bladder pump, and sampling of domestic or irrigation wells. It is expected that all field personnel have reviewed and learned the methodology contained within this manual before attempting to conduct sampling events in the field.
This Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) outlines all of the necessary information pertaining to the monitoring of Colorado groundwater for the presence of agricultural chemicals, which is the responsibility of the Agricultural Chemicals and Groundwater Protection Program (ACGP). Activities mentioned by this QAPP are grouped into Data Generation and Acquisition, Data Validation and Evaluation, and Reporting.
The issue of produced water is a pressing one facing the State. Significant amounts of water are produced from oil and gas operations in Colorado, which has the third largest gas reserves in the country. In 2012, produced water amounted to over 41,000 acre-feet, with over 20,000 acre-feet from the Western Slope alone. There are numbers of complex legal, regulatory, geographic, technical, social, and political considerations involved in any discussion of produced water.
The Gilcrest/LaSalle Pilot Project goal is to evaluate high groundwater conditions in the South Platte alluvial aquifer near Gilcrest and LaSalle, Colorado. For this study the Colorado Geological Survey (CGS) compiled, analyzed, and reinterpreted existing hydrogeologic data from previously published regional studies.
On February 23, 2014, Colorado's Air Quality Control Commission ("Commission") fully adopted EPA's Standards of Performance for Crude Oil and Natural Gas Production, Transmission, and Distribution found in 40 C.F.R. Part 60, Subpart OOOO ("NSPS OOOO") into Regulation Number 6, Part A; adopted corresponding revisions to its emissions reporting and permitting framework in Regulation Number 3, Parts A, B, and C; and adopted complementary oil and gas control measures in Regulation Number 7.
