This paper discusses the important role of the private sector in emergency management and explores the interaction of businesses with government agencies during times of disaster.
The Colorado Energy Assurance Emergency Plan (CEAEP) was developed to provide useful guidance and serve as a resource for the State of Colorado to improve emergency operations in preparing for, responding to and recovering from an energy sector power failure to include: electric power outage or disruption, natural gas delivery disruption, and/or liquid fuels shortage or delivery disruption.
It is recommended that schools have protocols for five basic emergency actions that are communicated in clear, consistent language. These actions are best standardized across a school district and developed with local response agencies. Schools are encouraged to share their emergency action protocols with parents of students and emergency responders in their community.
The Mobilization Plan is an all-risk system for the allocation, mobilization and deployment of resources in the event of a disaster or local incident that requires more resources than those available under any existing inter jurisdictional or mutual aid agreement.
