Abstract: Tarantulas belong to the arachnid (spider) family. Five species of tarantulas call Colorado home found in the southern part of the state particularly around La Junta. By better understanding spiders, we can appreciate the balance they maintain for ecosystems and the benefits they provide for human medicine and scientific research. Conservation starts small.
