The Scenic and Historic Byways program is a statewide partnership that provides many benefits to Coloradans. The program features outstanding touring routes all across the state that offer travelers interpretation and identification of key points of interest and services along safe and accessible travel ways, while also helping to protect historic monuments, significant viewsheds, and important environmental resources. This report offers an overview of the many benefits of Colorado's scenic byways and the Scenic and Historic Byways program. While the recreational and educational benefits of the byways are familiar to many travelers, the economic benefits are not as obvious.
