In 2012, the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) awarded a grant to The Nature Conservancy (TNC) to identify potential projects and methods that could be used to meet both nonconsumptive and consumptive needs in the Yampa River Basin. This effort leveraged existing studies funded by CWCB (e.g., the Yampa-White Basin needs assessments) to identify the most favorable candidate locations for implementing alternative agricultural water transfer methods (ATM) projects to meet nonconsumptive and consumptive needs. The main targeted needs of this project were environmental attributes and agricultural shortages. As recipients of an ATM grant from the CWCB, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Trout Unlimited (TU), and the Community Agriculture Alliance, with technical support from CDM Smith, evaluated potential voluntary alternative transfer methods that may allow agricultural water to be used to meet both irrigation shortages and environmental needs without permanently drying up currently irrigated land., "March 2014.", Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed February 2022)
The Yampa River Water Resources Planning Model Yampa Model was developed jointly by the Colorado Water Conservation Board and the Division of Water Resources as part of the Colorado River Decision Support System (CRDSS). The objective was to develop a monthly water allocation and accounting model which includes 100 percent of the basins consumptive use and would be capable of making comparative analyses for the assessment of historical and future water management policies., for Colorado Water Conservation Board, Colorado Division of Water Resources ; by Boyle Engineering Corporation and Riverside Technology, inc., "February 1997.", Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed February 2022)
One of the principal purposes of the current study is to assess the implications, particularly with regard to future basin water needs of transferring a portion of the Juniper Project water rights to instream flow use to assist in the recovery of the endangered fishes., "March 1993.", Prepared by Hydrosphere Resource Consultants .... The objectives of the present study are to follow-up on the recommendations of the previous study and to lay the groundwork for inter-agency decision-making regarding the water management future of the Yampa River basin. The study includes specific tasks to evaluate reservoir operations for water supply and for protecting and improving mainstem instream flows., "March 1995.", Prepared for Colorado River Conservation District, Colorado Water Conservation Board, Bureau of Reclamation., Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed February 2022)
