The Colorado Auto Theft Prevention Authority was established by Senate Bill 08-060 in 2003. The program has awarded approximately $4 million dollars annually which has been used by the programs partners to reduce auto theft in Colorado by 56 percent. This 56 percent decrease in auto theft has translated into a savings of $77 million dollars to the citizens of Colorado. The program has established a strong foundation in which to build the CATPA Strategic Plan. This plan has been developed to provide all the partners with a blueprint and common goals to take this program to the next level as a national leader in auto theft prevention.
