The Rail Communication Handbook is intended to be a helpful resource for CDOT personnel, our rail partners from private industry, concerned parties, and public entities when addressing activities near freight rail operations. This handbook identifies rail related resources within CDOT and rail partners, outlining the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of each party; creates channels to disseminate rail information quickly and efficiently; ensures consistency of information throughout the organization; and encourages early dialog, partnerships, and cooperation for all freight rail activities., "August 2012.", Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed June 2016)
"This Handbook is designed to provide practical answers to questions regarding how to best plan for pessenger rail in Colorado. It is based on extensive research into the land use/rail tansit relationhip, and on an evaluation of existing rail transit systems and their urban environments in North America. The Handbook is not meant to advocate rail transit, per se, but rather to describe the land development patterns that would be required to support rail transit in Colorado."--Liner notes., Executive summary -- 1. Introduction and purpose -- 2. Overview and background Research -- 3. Planning strategies -- 4. Implementation tools -- Glossary -- Resources -- Appendices: A. "State of the practice" literature review, B. Peer system study, C. Related Colorado projects, D. Primer on passenger rail technologies., Title from the PDF file title page., "CDOT-DTD-R-2001-19, March 2002."

This study evaluated the condition of the thermoplastic and pavement marking tape stripes through several winters to see if the grooves provided significant protection for the stripes. Placing lane markings in shallow grooves in the pavement results in considerably longer marking life, making the highway safer for drivers., "August 2004.", "Report No. CDOT-DTD-R-2004-13, final report."--Cover., Prepared in cooperation with the US Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration., Mode of access: World Wide Web.
