- Domestic violence case processing in Colorado
- The purpose of this exploratory study is to better understand the process by which the domestic violence (DV) cases (misdemeanor and felony) are “flagged” in the state court administrative record data set, to profile those cases, and to compare recidivism rates of those who received DV treatment with those who did not. Because we were unable to identify with confidence cases referred to DV treatment, we identified a comparison group of non-DV cases and analyzed recidivism., prepared by the Colorado Statistical Analysis Center (SAC) for the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice ; prepared by Peg Flick and Kim English., "April 2016.", Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed July 2016), Grant number 2014-BJ-CX-K027

- Escape, mandatory consecutive sentences
- Two primary concerns prompted this paper, the mandatory sentence provision and the definition that is not restricted to escape from secure facilities. First, consecutive sentences for escape convictions are mandated in statute. For nearly all other criminal sentences, consecutive sentences are at the discretion of the judge. It is the mandatory nature of the sentencing provision that concerns members of the Task Force. This broad brush approach to sentencing policy is not supported by the criminology literature which consistently reports the need for individualized interventions to reduce the likelihood of new criminal behavior and victimization.1 Further, this policy increases the prison population when the escape sentence is longer than the sentence for the original crime., "November 13, 2008.", Includes bibliographical references., Description based on online resource; title from PDF caption (viewed January 2014)
