The Colorado early childhood workforce survey 2017
The Colorado early childhood workforce survey 2017
Several decades of research have established the benefits of high-quality early care and education (ECE) to children's short and longer-term social-emotional and academic outcomes. Early educators are considered "the single most important factor" in high-quality ECE. Yet despite the fact that early educators' jobs have expanded in recent years, the professional qualifications required, the compensation that they receive, and the environments in which they work, often do not adequately reflect the professional nature of their job or the complexity of the work. If ECE is to live up to its promises of narrowing the achievement gap and preparing children for elementary school and beyond, it is critical to elevate the profession., Diana D. Schaack & Vi Nhuan Le., Findings from the Denver metropolitan area -- Findings from northeast Colorado -- Findings from northwest Colorado -- Findings from southeast Colorado -- Findings from southwest Colorado., The Colorado Early Childhood Workforce Survey was conducted as part of Transforming the Early Childhood Workforce in Colorado project, an initiative designed to advance the early childhood workforce. Steering partners include Early Milestones Colorado, the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), and the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS). Philanthropic partners include Gary Community Investments and the Buell Foundation., Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed July 2019)

Turnarounds in Colorado : partnering for innovative reform in a local control state
Turnarounds in Colorado : partnering for innovative reform in a local control state
The goal of Colorados education system is to ensure that all children have access to a high quality school and the opportunity to receive an excellent education. But for too many students--urban, suburban and rural schools--that expectation is not being met. It is widely held in the education profession that turning a chronically low-performing school into a high-performing school is the most difficult of all tasks. Many strategies have been tried; few have succeeded. However, the enormity and complexity of the problem is not a valid excuse for failing to solve it, and CDE must lead the way., Robin Baker, Kelly Hupfeld, Paul Teske, Paul Hill., Online resource; title from PDF cover (viewed February 2016)
