The geology and coal beds outcrops of the Fruitland Formation and surrounding Upper Cretaceous strata were mapped by the CGS in 2008. This digital publication of the map at 1:24,000-scale and accompanying 1:12,000-scale detailed plates show accurate locations for Fruitland coal beds on the surface in western Archuleta County. The map covers 23 miles of outcrop on mostly Federal land managed by the USFS., by Christopher J. Carroll and 6 others., Geologic report (32 pages : illustrated) -- Key-symbols and lithological patterns -- Geologic unit descriptions -- Index map: geologic map showing Upper Cretaceous units in western Archuleta County (1:24,000 scale, 40" x 28") -- Plates 1-4 Detailed Geologic maps of the Fruitland Formation and Coal Bed Stratigraphy -- Plates 5A-5B Cross-sections of 22 Fruitland coal measured sections., Includes bibliographical references., Online resource; title from PDF cover of geologic report (viewed February 2015)
