The overall purpose of the report is to provide further details on this initial set of strategies. This report is a compilation of a series of technical memorandums that were developed to summarize technical work that was completed for the CWCB under various task orders. The objectives of the technical memorandums that have been compiled in this report are: Identify potential scenarios for Colorado's water supply future and associated; Describe the M&I conservation strategy, agricultural transfer strategy, and new supply development strategy; Present reconnaissance level cost estimates for the agriculture transfer and new supply development strategies; Summarize the benefits, impacts, and opportunities of each strategy.
This study proposes that a number of geographic, demographic, and economic factors are driving investment and engagement in innovation in the agricultural and food system, and the essential elements are in place along the Colorado Front Range for the emergence and growth of an innovation-led industry cluster in agriculture and food. Innovators in an increasingly integrated agriculture-water-food-beverage-bioenergy innovation ecosystem are gathering and growing along Colorado's Front Range, creating next-generation technologies and business models to nourish, refresh, and energize the world.
This Watershed Plan Environmental Assessment is to improve the surface and groundwater quality by reducing the agricultural contribution of heavy metals salts sediment, and nitrate contamination This will be accomplished through accelerated technical and financial assistance for the installation of on farm land treatment measures. The measures are to reduce contaminants in the groundwater surface water and the Arkansas River to an acceptable level and protect the soil resource base from excessive irrigation induced erosion.
When a release of a hazardous material or other substance occurs to the environment, there are a number of reporting and notification requirements that must be followed by the company or individual responsible for the release. Environmental releases must be reported to the appropriate authorities so that necessary response actions are taken in a timely fashion to ensure maximum protection of human health and the environment.
The goal of this document is to promote state policy recommendations and actions that help to improve Colorado's ability to adapt to future climate change impacts and increase Colorado's state agencies level of preparedness, while simultaneously identifying opportunities to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) at the agency level. In this plan, the major sectors of the state government are addressed, specific actions are called for, and policy recommendations are made. Because addressing climate change is best addressed collaboratively, this plan has been developed collectively by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE), the Colorado Energy Office (CEO), the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), the Colorado Department of Agriculture (CDA), the Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT), and the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA), with input from key stakeholders.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife (CDOW) proposes to conduct a study of the Parachute/Piceance/Roan (PPR) population of greater sage-grouse during 2007 and 2008. The PPR is one of several small, spatially fragmented populations of sage-grouse in Colorado. The CDOW is interested in working with energy companies and other land owners and managers in the PPR area to sustain the PPR grouse population and plan for future management actions. The objectives of the study are to obtain current, baseline information on the genetic characteristics; measures of reproduction and survival rates; and patterns of habitat use and seasonal movements of sage-grouse in this population.
This issue brief provides a brief overview of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), related federal and state regulations, and current uses and restrictions in Colorado.
